Expressing Thoughts Through Poetry and Prose

My name is Dominique and I am a writer, poet, and creative enthusiast.

At the tender age of 2, I set foot in Europe for the very first time. The first 13 years of my life would be colored by the vivid imagery and sights I ingested while being ping-ponged from the US to Europe via the military. Being in a foreign land struck a fountain of creativity in me that poured out freely.

Our family would often take weekend trips to various nearby bases. Two hours and we’d be in Belgium, four hours and we’d be in France. At night we’d drive through the German countryside where villages and little towns in valleys would be lit up with activity and thrusting towers of castles on hillsides would stand absolutely aglow. To my young and impressionable mind fairytales were indeed real! So, I wrote from a place of unrestricted and free-flowing creativity that was completely nurtured by my surroundings. 

Although my inspiration may have waned once we permanently settled back into life in the U.S., my motivation to write began to change. No longer was it just a creative class exercise, but an authentic relationship began to take root.

A union between heart and pen was formed and my self-expressed identity was born.
